One semester course completed my Senior Year [23'-24']. I have always enjoyed helping Mr. Mariano with various tasks around his class room so this year I decided to be his teaching assistant.
The way that Mr. Mariano wanted his new laser cutter oriented was against a wall. There was no way the bulky filter tube would have any room. I created a 90 degree adapter for the system. Printed out of flexible TPU, added reinforcement with PLA when needed. The two halves were welded together with a soldering iron. I am very proud of this job, it looks like a purchased component.
Currently, the 3D printing section of Mr. Mariano's room looks like many others. We want a purpose built enclosure that will better show off his machines and provide all the benefits of a proper enclosure. He tasked me with creating a proposal to the school so we can acquire funds and get building. So far I have made a detailed, to scale CAD model of the existing area, and what our new enclosure will look like in it.
Over the summer Mr. Mariano acquired a very nice and expensive laser cutter. I set it up and thoroughly tested it before his other classes could take advantage of it. Along with the laser came a BOFA brand fume extractor. This is crucial as laser fumes would be isolated in his office which has no outside access. Making sure these two systems properly mesh together is crucial for ease of use and safety.
I am no stranger to servicing 3D printers, and used my expertise to have this one up and running once again in around two hours. Benefits of this printer is its dual extrusion system for multi colored prints.
The stock BL-Touch that shipped with this CR-10 was constantly malfunctioning so we decided to replace it with a CR-Touch. This required a custom mount, which is the orange part seen above. I also installed an all metal hot end which is to the right of my mount.
Another organized cabinet. Took time to strip this space of all its tools and make a new, non-disorganized layout. I plan to add a LED strip with a motion sensor
Not exactly in Mr. Mariano's class but the neighboring robotics class i've grown to love. The power strips on Mrs. Ryan's lab tables kept falling off, this mount keeps them in place.
Quick Organization of the crowded filament cabinet, this is temporary as we aim to fix this problem with the new enclosure.
