Full year course taken Senior year [23' - 24']. This season is now concluded, page now shows all relevant information. In our final competition we came one match short of making it to the state final. Despite this, I was super proud of our efforts and couldn't have enjoyed my first FTC season more.
Being on the robotics team allows us to participate in many outreach events. Our task for this event was to educate CHS 9th and 10th grade math classes about the world of Coding and Robotics. Event took place throughout the whole day, my team presented around 10 times.
Possibly the biggest team accolade at our final competition was walking away with the Innovate Award - Sponsored by RTX. This award was a team effort however, the judges largely mentioned my claw contributions when we were presented with this honor.
Our robot claw is the most heavily iterated portion of our design. After limited success with previous versions I was individually tasked with reworking it entirely. The new design uses cleverly mounted servos to drive helical gears, pulling a string, setting the claw in the closed position. Rubber bands passively pull the claw fingers in the open position.
My first bit of 3D printing expertise brought to our team. Multiple iterations of these spools have been tested. The picture above is my current V3. This model features two sections, one for up spooling and the other for down spooling. This complex geometry was also printed in one piece using PVA support material.
Awarded to our team (11248) at our home hosted competition. We were interviewed about the creation of our robot on multiple occasions and demonstrated industrial design skills to obtain this award.
Produced a detailed CAD model of our current drive train iteration. Modeled accurately as possible for potential troubleshooting, parts (STEP files) pulled from REV's website, and jointed together in Fusion360. This model was made at the beginning of the semester, the drive train has changed drastically since then.
Made team t-shirts to be worn at competitions. Heat press material was cut out on a "Cricut" vinyl cutter and then pressed onto shirts.
Construction of this years FIRST challenge playing field. Team ordeal, first time working together.
